Jamie Shockley (P3 - Knoxville Campus) has accepted a position on the APhA-ASP Education Committee following the resignation of an initial appointee.

Jamie's past involvement in leadership positions, especially within APhA-ASP, and her enthusiastic dedication to the profession of pharmacy made our decision very easy! This committee's work has never been more important. With health care reform being a major agenda item for the Obama administration, demonstration of the high-quality care pharmacist's can provide is vital to our profession's inclusion within proposed legislation.

Continuing with what our previous ASP members have created for the future of our chapter, our members this year worked hard to maintain the successful events we have held in past.  This year, we held our 3rd annual CPR/Project Heart Health Fair to teach members of the community proper CPR technique in three scheduled classes as well as holding a health fair with opportunities to have their blood pressure, blood glucose, body fat and bone density checked and BMI calculated.  Registered Pharmacists were brought in to do medication reconciliation and the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry was invited to provide dental checks and provide advice about proper dental care.
