Continuing with what our previous ASP members have created for the future of our chapter, our members this year worked hard to maintain the successful events we have held in past. This year, we held our 3rd annual CPR/Project Heart Health Fair to teach members of the community proper CPR technique in three scheduled classes as well as holding a health fair with opportunities to have their blood pressure, blood glucose, body fat and bone density checked and BMI calculated. Registered Pharmacists were brought in to do medication reconciliation and the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry was invited to provide dental checks and provide advice about proper dental care. |

On February 21, the Academy of Student Pharmacists (ASP) successfully provided a free CPR Training Event and Health and Wellness Fair to the Memphis community. ASP along with faculty and pharmacist volunteers trained about 85 individuals in the life-saving skills of CPR and screened more than 150 individuals for illness related to heart disease and women’s health. The project coincided with the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign and targeted an audience interested in heart disease. The event was held at Independent Presbyterian Church. |
