2010 APhA-ASP Region 3 Midyear Regional Meeting in Memphis

The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is proud to welcome student pharmacists from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Puerto Rico to the great city of Memphis for the 2010 APhA-ASP Region 3 Midyear Regional Meeting. This years MRM will be held October 15th-17th at the Marriott Memphis Downtown and the Cook Convention Center. MRM offers professional education on contemporary issues, career information, leadership development, and networking opportunities for all student pharmacists. This year, we anticipate having over 350 attendees from across the region as well as a number of local, regional, and national exhibitors. 2010 Chapter of the Year!

University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is the winner of the 2010 APhA-ASP National Chapter of the Year!  For the third time since 2002, UT won first place out of over 110 other ASP chapters. The 53 UT students present celebrated on stage while "Rocky Top" was played.  In addition to winning Chapter of the Year, UT also won 2 regional awards for heartburn awareness committee and operation immunization committee

 

 

 
ASP Committee Showcase 2009

On Wednesday August 26, 2009 the APhA-ASP chapter at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy hosted  a committee exposition where the different committees of Patient Care showcased boards detailing successful events and plans for the current year to the first year Pharmacy students. The showcase offered the opportunity to the first year students to learn more about the different activities and projects organized by ASP and also how to get involved in serving the community. In addition to the committee showcase, ASP also had a membership drive station where a number of first year student had the opportunity for register to become ASP members.

Shockley Appointed to National Standing Committee

Jamie Shockley (P3 - Knoxville Campus) has accepted a position on the APhA-ASP Education Committee following the resignation of an initial appointee.

Jamie's past involvement in leadership positions, especially within APhA-ASP, and her enthusiastic dedication to the profession of pharmacy made our decision very easy! This committee's work has never been more important. With health care reform being a major agenda item for the Obama administration, demonstration of the high-quality care pharmacist's can provide is vital to our profession's inclusion within proposed legislation.

UT Chapter Attends APhA2009 in San Antonio

The UT chapter recently took 60 students to APhA2009 Annual Meeting in San Antonio.  While there, student pharmacists attended leadership seminars, debated policy and resolutions, and celebrated the accomplishments of APhA-ASP.  Several also attended the Politcal Action Committee Breakfast and heard from Representative Charlie A. Gonzalez (D - TX) about upcoming healthcare reform and pharmacy's role within that process.
