read moreUTHSC Flu Shot Event Featured in the Commercial Appeal!
This past Thursday, September 29, 2011, our APhA-ASP chapter, partnering with UTHSC Health Services and the Nursing School, held a campus-wide Flu Shot Event where all current students, faculty, and staff could come and get a free flu shot. Our chapter members manned shifts that spanned from 9 am to 3 pm. By the end of the last shift, we had administered 1561 total flu shots! Every fall semester, our chapter holds its annual Committee Showcase to give the new students a chance to meet all of our committee chairs and vice chairs. This year’s Showcase was held in the new multipurpose room across from the main lecture halls in the new pharmacy building. All our committees set up their boards and displays, introduced themselves to the first year students, and shared their vision and mission with them. About 45 years ago, a dream for a new, state of the art pharmacy building was conceived. On August 25, 2011, the University of Tennessee community celebrated the official dedication of that pharmacy building. Pharmacists, practitioners, students, contributors, and even Mayor Wharton came out to celebrate the opening of this building. read moreChapter Awards @ 2011 APhA Annual
Our student chapter won the award for 2009-2010 Chapter Achievement in Division A at the 2011 APhA Meeting in Seattle, WA, held in March 2011! Divisions are determined by the total enrollment of the college, with Division A consisting of schools that have more than 500 student pharmacists currently enrolled. This marks the second time that our chapter has won the Division A Award in the past 5 years.
