The American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) strives to be the student voice in advancing the profession. There are APhA-ASP chapters at colleges of pharmacy all over the country and ours has been recognized as Chapter of the Year twice in the last six years. As the largest student organization on campus, we provide the community with free health services while equipping student pharmacists with the clinical skills they need to succeed in this evolving profession.
With 16 different committees, APhA-ASP provides students with a variety of opportunities to lead and serve. In addition, APhA-ASP offers several trips, where you can meet other pharmacy students from around the nation. This past year, our chapter traveled to Atlanta, GA for the Midyear Regional Meeting and for the National Meeting. To help students attend meetings, APhA-ASP has a credit system that allows students to be partially reimbursed for their travel expenses. The more involved you are, the more points you can be awarded. Additionally, we have a number of other fun events throughout the year, including bowling tournaments, picnics, and of course, our biggest event of the year, the APhA-ASP Banquet and Casino Night.
Membership in APhA-ASP not only means being a member of the student chapter at UT, but it also includes membership in our state association, the Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA), and our local Memphis Area Pharmacists Society (MAPS). Being a member of APhA-ASP will provide you opportunities to grow as a leader, sharpen your clinical skills, and see all that pharmacy can do for you. With these tools and experiences, you can make a difference in your profession.
