Our Chapter

As the University of Tennessee chapter of the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists, our mission is to provide professional development and leadership opportunities for student pharmacists, raise awareness about and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in the healthcare system, and provide health services and education to the citizens of Tennessee.

There are APhA-ASP chapters at colleges of pharmacy all over the country and our chapter is one of the strongest and most productive. The hardwork of our members and faculty advisors has allowed us to be recognized as Chapter of the Year twice in the last six years. As the largest student organization on campus, we provide the community with free health services while equipping student pharmacists with the clinical skills they need to succeed in our evolving profession.

With several different committees, our chapter provides students with a variety of opportunities to lead and serve. In addition, APhA-ASP offers several trips, where you can meet and network with other student pharmacists from around the nation. This past year, our chapter hosted the Midyear Regional Meeting in Memphis and traveled to Seattle for the APhA Annual Meeting. To help students attend meetings, APhA-ASP has a credit system that allows students to be partially reimbursed for their travel expenses. The more involved you are, the more points you can be awarded. Additionally, we have a number of other fun events throughout the year, including bowling/golf tournaments, picnics, and of course, our biggest event of the year, the APhA-ASP Banquet and Casino Night.
